Camping weekend Victoria bikers bar Leicester

After the 3rd cancellation of our trip to the Triumph factory, it was decided that we would still make use of the time, we had all booked off, and decided on a camping weekend in Leicestershire anyway.

A rapid search of the web, and hey presto, the perfect place in the form of the Victoria bikers bar, with camping, live music, real ale and a friendly welcome.

On Friday 9th July nine club members travelled from the Wirral to the Victoria bikers bar, Coalville, Leicestershire. On arrival we were greeted by the Landlord John, who directed us to the camping area, as luck had it, we were the only campers that weekend, so, had the whole area to ourselves. There was hard standing for the bikes next to our tents and the added bonus of security cameras watching over our pride and joys.

Friday night was Rock night at the Vic. We had a couple of drinks in the bar/lounge before moving into the concert room, where we were entertained by 3 rock bands, with the top band being Rhab Stallion, apparently, they were quite big in the 80s, but whoever they were, they put on a good show, and a good night was had by all.

Saturday. We all headed into Coalville for some brunch and a look around the town, which had some quite interesting shops, the classic bike shop attracting the most interest.

After brunch, we decided to take a tour of the mining trail, which displayed the towns coal mining history, which we found very interesting, informative and well laid out. Then it was on the Snibstone New Inn for a few well-deserved drinks. The Snibstone Inn was a very friendly pub, with fine ales and pillory stocks in the beer garden. It was decided that Tom should be the one locked in the stocks, for no other reason apart from him being Tom.

Evening time saw us back at the Vic, where we decided to have a quiet night in the bar/lounge, as it was Punk rock night in the concert room. We had a good chill out, a few beers and the sounds of some good old punk rock filtering through from the concert room.

Sunday we all de-camped and headed our separate ways home.

All in all, we had a great weekend with great company. The camping was basic but adequate, with secure camping and parking for the bikes. The landlord, staff and locals at the Vic were all very friendly and helpful. We will defiantly be back.

Thanks to everyone that came, it wouldn’t have been the same without you. We must do it again.
